And she cried, and cried, and cried......

That is what Georgiy's birth mom did when she met with Gene, who did our bio family search. She cried when he gave her the letter we wrote. She cried and cried when she saw the photos we sent. She was happy and sad and overwhelmed all at once.

She never wanted to give him up, it was very hard for her. She knew she had no way of caring for a child with Down Syndrome (a "child with such a disease" as Gene wrote)and she did what is customary in her country. And then she visited him for 3 years. She gave us pictures of her, her sister and her mom with Georgiy. Pictures that were taken when she visited.

She loved him. That was obvious in the photos. She is now remarried. She and her husband invited Gene into their home and made him a nice dinner. She is 6 months pregnant and hopes for a healthy baby.

She wants to keep in touch. She gave us her full adress AND her phone number. She has ours as well. We are planning a trip to Ukraine next year to meet.

Happy Mother's Day to two mothers who share love for same son even though they live in different countries.

There is no greater gift I could have received this week than to know Georgiy's mother will never wonder again where her baby boy is and how he is doing. She will never imagine him in an institution. She will get to see him grow up, even if only through letters and pictures sent to her.

Thanks be to God.

What a happy feeling this left me with! And a lesson for us in the love of our childrens birthmothers! How aweful it must be to give up your children, and feel there is no hope for them.

How wonderful to have these baby pictures and for the birth mama to know her little boy is OK and loved. Thanks for following your heart on this. I also liked your post about forgiveness.
